Abstract

Reckless imprudence is a form of criminal negligence under Article 365 of the Philippine Revised Penal Code, committed when a person voluntarily performs an act with gross negligence that disregards the safety of others, resulting in unintended harm. Data were collected through a survey questionnaire after securing permission from the barangay and briefing the respondents on the study’s objectives and procedures. Results showed that respondents generally agreed on factors contributing to reckless imprudence, with overall weighted means of 3.4 for driver behavior, 3.3 for road conditions, and 3.4 for traffic enforcement. These findings emphasize the importance of road discipline, adherence to traffic laws, and continuous education to reduce reckless behavior on the road. The study recommends strengthened collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local government units to enhance traffic enforcement, data collection, and case validation. Active participation of Barangay Batasan Hills residents is also encouraged to help lower incident rates through community cooperation. Lastly, future researchers are encouraged to adopt interdisciplinary approaches and utilize modern technologies to further improve prevention strategies and promote overall traffic safety.
