Abstract

The environmental impact of illegal parking in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City was exploration to determine out if it impacts the environment or contributes to business related matters in the area. Was to collect and estimate information regarding the impacts of illegal parking on air pollution, noise pollution, disruption of traffic flow and Economic, incurred by providers of public transportation and local businesses. The growing population of buses and lack of available parking spaces in urban areas has increased the frequency of parking violations, which has created multiple issues associated with both environmental sustainability and public safety. For this study, a quantitative- descriptive research design was used to gather the data. The researchers collected data using a structured review questionnaire that recorded responses from a convenience sample of 80 respondents that included residents, drivers, students, and traffic enforcers living in Barangay Payatas. These groups of respondents represented different sectors in the community that were impacted by illegal parking. The researchers used statistical tools including frequency distributions, percentages, weighted means, rankings, and One- Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to analyze and interpret the data. Statistical tools allowed researchers to measure how respondents viewed illegal parking’s impact on their community and to estimate the significance of the environmental and traffic related impacts caused by illegal parking. Most respondents recommended creating more designated parking areas to reduce traffic congestion and environmental harm. They also suggested enforcing stricter parking laws, increasing penalties, and promoting community education to encourage responsible parking. Additionally, respondents emphasized environmentally friendly transport options and improved urban planning. Overall, illegal parking is a serious traffic, environmental, and socio-economic issue that requires coordinated action from local authorities and the community in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City. Illegal parking is a growing problem in urban communities in the Philippines, especially in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City. Due to limited parking spaces and increasing vehicle ownership, many motorists park in unauthorized areas such as sidewalks and fire lanes. This leads to traffic congestion and contributes to environmental, social, and health issues, as well as the deterioration of public spaces.
