Abstract
The study focuses on the implementation of the Drug Clearing Operation Program of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) in Novaliches, Quezon City. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the council in eliminating illegal drug activities and promoting a safe community. Descriptive research design for the purpose of gathering quantitative data. The study involved 80 respondents, 50 local residents, 20 members of BADAC, and 10 barangay officials. The data were gathered using a structured survey questionnaire and analyzed using statistical procedures such as the weighted mean and Kruskal-Wallis H-test to determine if there is any significant difference in the perceptions of the three groups. Finally, the p-value test was conducted to validate the hypotheses and the findings. The results show that although BADAC has the capability to carry out the clearing operations, its efforts are thwarted by serious systemic challenges. These include a lack of financial resources, a lack of human resources, and a lack of community outreach. Moreover, a lack of coordination with the police and a lack of rehabilitation facilities in the community are important barriers to the success of the program. Yet, the council is making serious efforts to ensure that it remains “drug-free.”. The findings of the study conclude that in order to achieve sustainability, there is a need for better collaboration among stakeholders and improved logistical support. To improve drug prevention and aftercare programs, the study recommends better infrastructure and the implementation of community-based adaptive strategies. In the end, it is important to fill the gaps in logistical and social support in order for the BADAC to improve its capacity and maintain peace and order in the community.
