Abstract

The study, titled “The Youth Leadership Program Towards Community Development in Barangay Sta. Quiteria, Caloocan City, ” examined the impact of youth initiatives on community growth, civic engagement, and leadership development. It highlighted the role of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in empowering youth through programs such as leadership training, environmental drives, and outreach projects, which aimed to promote social responsibility and active participation in governance. The study focused on assessing youth participation, leadership skill development, contribution to community projects, challenges encountered, and potential improvements that enhanced program effectiveness. Using a quantitative research design, respondents were grouped by age, sex, educational attainment, and length of residency. The findings revealed that most participants were young adults aged 18–25, predominantly male, college-level educated, and had resided in the community for 1–3 years. Respondents strongly agreed that the Youth Leadership Program positively influenced youth participation, engagement, and leadership skill development, with overall weighted mean ratings ranging from 3.90 to 3.99. Contribution to community projects was similarly rated positively, indicating that the program effectively fostered meaningful involvement and responsibility among youth. There were no significant differences in assessments across respondent groups, suggesting a shared and consistently positive perception of the program’s impact. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges such as low participation, disagreements among members, community divisions, miscommunication, and insufficient budget were identified, with low participation and internal conflicts being the most critical. The study recommended that youth fostered collaboration, barangay officials provided adequate resources and conflict-resolution support, the community promoted engagement, and researchers monitored implementation and provided evidence-based recommendations. The study concluded that the Youth Leadership Program strengthened youth involvement, leadership, and civic responsibility, and future research should explore long-term impacts and strategies for sustainability.
