Abstract

This research, titled “The Importance of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) on Public Safety in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City, ” focuses on assessing how CCTV systems help strengthen peace, order, and security within the community. Chapter 1 presents the background and rationale of the study, highlighting the increasing need for safety measures and the contribution of modern surveillance technology in crime prevention. It also outlines the study’s objectives, significance, and scope. Chapter 2 reviews various related literature and studies that emphasize the effectiveness of CCTV in monitoring community activities, reducing criminal incidents, and enhancing coordination between law enforcement and residents. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach through the use of survey questionnaires administered to barangay officials, command center officers, and residents. Data were analyzed using statistical tools such as the weighted mean and percentage to determine the extent of CCTV effectiveness and the challenges faced in its implementation. Results revealed that CCTV plays a vital role in improving public safety, though some issues remain, including equipment maintenance, limited coverage, and technical concerns. From these findings, the researchers formulated a proposed plan of action to enhance CCTV operations and further promote community security within the barangay. The results indicated that most respondents belonged to the 42 years and older age group while the majority of respondents were female and single and completed their high school education. The respondents demonstrated strong agreement with the statement that CCTV systems monitor suspicious activities while they also improve incident response and provide reliable evidence for criminal investigations and maintain peace and order throughout the barangay. The study found positive outcomes but the research identified multiple issues which included restricted CCTV coverage areas and existing blind spots and camera equipment failures and insufficient camera installations across particular regions. The statistical analysis demonstrated that respondents assessed the assessments in the same way throughout different demographic groups which included age and sex and civil status and educational attainment.
