Abstract
This study assessed the ability of Barangay Patrol Personnel in handling tough situations in Barangay Sauyo, Quezon City, with specific emphasis on decision-making, crisis management, and communication skills. Using a quantitative descriptive research design, data were collected from fifty (50) respondents, including barangay patrol personnel, officers, volunteers, and inhabitants of Barangay Sauyo. A researcher-developed questionnaire was used to gather the respondents' evaluations, and the data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, standard deviation, and suitable inferential methods of statistical analysis. Findings determined that the barangay patrol officers demonstrated an overall good level of aptitude in decision-making, crisis management, and communication abilities. The results further showed that patrol personnel effectively prioritize community safety, apply facts and evidence in decision-making, and maintain clear communication during challenging situations. However, certain challenges such as limited resources, staffing limits, and high-stress situations were recognized as variables affecting their performance. The study suggests that while the barangay patrol personnel of Barangay Sauyo are generally capable of handling complicated circumstances, constant training, proper support, and improved utilization of resources are necessary to further improve their performance. The findings of this study may serve as a basis for establishing targeted training programs and policy interventions to increase community safety and peace and order at the barangay level.
