Abstract

This study evaluated the effectiveness of barangay outpost personnel in Barangay Kiko, Camarin, Caloocan City, in reducing crime incidents. It examined how community partnership, patrol visibility, and crime prevention strategies contribute to maintaining peace and order and identified challenges affecting service efficiency. A descriptive quantitative research design was employed. data were collected using a self-constructed survey questionnaire validated by a research adviser, grammarian, and statistician. The study involved 80 respondents: 10 barangay officials, 20 barangay tanods, and 50 community residents. Statistical tools used included frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and Kruskal-Wallis H Test to determine significant differences in assessments based on age, sex, and civil status. Findings revealed that respondents “strongly agree” on the effectiveness of barangay outpost personnel. Community partnership obtained a mean of 3.66, patrol visibility 3.69, and crime prevention 3.70, indicating a high level of effectiveness in promoting community safety and deterring crime. The results suggest that barangay outposts play a significant role in maintaining peace and order. However, concerns regarding manpower and infrastructure gaps were identified. The study recommends increasing active personnel, ensuring consistent funding for security equipment, and strengthening coordination and information campaigns to further improve local crime prevention efforts.
