Abstract
This study examined of reckless driving on accident severity along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, This study aimed to access the effect of reckless driving on accident severity along Commonwealth Avenue Quezon City. Specifically, This study aimed to provide answer to the following questions the profile of the respondents how do the respondents assess effect of the reckless driving on accident severity along Commonwealth Avenue Quezon City and is there a significant difference between the respondents assessment in terms of types of reckless driving, time-related factors, and severity indicators, when grouped according to the profile of the respondents the problems encountered by the respondents in the effects of reckless driving on accident severity along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. The study used a quantitative descriptive research design and involved forty-five (45) respondents, composed of fifteen (15) drivers who frequently pass through Commonwealth Avenue, fifteen (15) commuters, and fifteen (15) traffic law enforcers assigned in the area. Data were gathered through a researcher-developed questionnaire and analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and ranking. Findings revealed that reckless driving behaviors such as overspeeding, sudden lane changing, tailgating, and disregard for traffic signals significantly contribute to higher accident severity, resulting in serious injuries, fatalities, and property damage. Based on the findings of the study, what measured may be proposed to address the encountered problems in effects of reckless driving on accident severity along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City one of the most accident-prone urban roads in Metro Manila. Specifically, it assessed how reckless driving behaviors, together with visibility of signage and markings, enforcement intensity, and adverse environmental conditions, influence the severity of road accidents.
