Abstract

This study examined the role of the Philippine National Police Station Community Affairs and Development (PNP-SCAD) in building trust in Barangay Gulod. The research addressed the lack of localized studies evaluating SCAD’s effectiveness in strengthening police-community relations. It focused on public information, community outreach, and crime prevention programs as key factors influencing trust. A quantitative research design was employed. Data were gathered from 80 respondents: 60 residents, 10 barangay tanod and local organization representatives, and 10 SCAD police officers. Survey questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data on perceptions of trust, engagement, collaboration, and program effectiveness. Statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, weighted mean, and the Kruskal-Wallis H test were applied to analyze differences in responses among groups. Findings revealed that respondents generally perceived PNP-SCAD initiatives as highly effective in building trust. Public information dissemination, community outreach activities, and crime prevention programs positively influenced community relations and strengthened cooperation between police officers and residents. Statistical analysis showed no significant disparity in perceptions among the three groups, indicating shared recognition of SCAD’s role in enhancing trust and safety. The study highlights the importance of sustained community engagement and transparent communication in strengthening police-community relations. Continuous assessment of SCAD programs is recommended to further improve collaboration and align policing strategies with community needs. A unified, community-centered approach to peacekeeping is essential to maintain public trust and ensure long-term safety in Barangay Gulod.
