Abstract

This study looks at how the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) contributes to the safety and stability in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. In a community, maintaining order often falls on the shoulders of these local responders who handle everything from neighborhood disputes to crime prevention. The researchers set out to determine if the BPAT’s methods are truly effective in keeping residents safe and if they have earned the community’s trust. By identifying the strengths and weaknesses of these peacekeepers, The study aimed to provide other ideas for BPAT to better protect their citizens. The researchers used a quantitative approach, meaning they turned to numbers and structured feedback to measure success. They surveyed 65 individuals, including a local residents, barangay tanod, and police officers, to ensure the data reflected multiple points of view. These respondents shared their experiences through a detailed questionnaire that used a rating scale to evaluate the BPAT's performance. This allowed the researchers to turn personal opinions into clear, statistical data that highlights where the BPAT is succeeding and where they are falling short. The BPAT is generally viewed as an effective force in the community, particularly when it comes to reporting incidents and being visible in public spaces. Most participants felt that the team is dedicated to their roles and maintains a professional presence. However, the results also pointed out some significant problems. The biggest issue identified was that not enough residents are participating in safety programs, followed by the team not having enough equipment or people for patrols. The BPAT has a solid foundation of dedication and leadership, they cannot carry the burden of community safety alone. The study concludes that there is a vital need for a more structured "enhancement plan" that focuses on better training, more modern tools, and stronger communication with the public. To truly improve peace and order, the relationship between the police, the local peacekeepers, and the residents must be strengthened. Ultimately, the study concludes that keeping Batasan Hills peaceful is a team effort that requires more support from the government and more involvement from the people living there.
