Abstract

The source introduction contains only a chapter-outline statement and does not present the disaster-preparedness problem, objective, setting, or conceptual basis. Based on the methods, results, and discussion, the study assessed factors affecting the preparedness of the barangay disaster response team in Barangay Batasan Hills. The study used a quantitative descriptive design and purposive sampling. The source describes planned procedures involving permission from barangay and police authorities, respondent briefing, survey administration, collection, tabulation, analysis, and interpretation. It does not report the sample size, respondent groups, instrument validation, or statistical procedures. Respondents strongly agreed that consideration of vulnerable groups—including older persons, persons with disabilities, children, and pregnant women—was the most important factor affecting preparedness. Insufficient evacuation centers and resulting overcrowding were identified as the least influential factor, although respondents still strongly agreed that these conditions affected barangay preparedness and typhoon response. Improving preparedness requires cooperation among residents, barangay officials, the disaster response team, and researchers. Residents are encouraged to participate in drills and training, while officials should provide clear communication and leadership. The response team should continue regular skills training, and community programs or incentives may increase participation. Future studies may assess the long-term effectiveness of preparedness programs.
