Abstract

This study focused on persistent traffic congestion in Deparo, Caloocan City and examined the strategies used by local traffic enforcers to manage the problem. It evaluated traffic direction, law enforcement, coordination, and safety education. Despite existing measures, limited resources and low public compliance remained challenges. The study assessed the perceived effectiveness of current strategies and sought to recommend improvements for traffic management and road safety. The study used a quantitative descriptive research design. Structured surveys were administered through purposive sampling to 50 respondents with direct experience of traffic conditions and management, comprising 40 drivers and 10 traffic enforcers. Most respondents were aged 42–50, all were male, and most had at least 10 years of residence or service in the area. The source results state that the highest educational attainment “largely fell under the category,” but the category is not identified. Traffic-flow management, driver education, and strict law enforcement were rated “Very Effective,” while pedestrian-education strategies were rated “Effective.” Road repairs and construction were identified as the most common source of traffic disruption. The leading proposed solution was a coordinated traffic-flow system intended to improve vehicle movement and reduce congestion.
