Abstract
This study appraises the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) operations of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) engaged in electrical project construction in Metro Manila. The increasing adoption of digital tools in the Philippine construction sector offers opportunities to enhance accuracy, safety, and sustainability. This research employed a quantitative descriptive design involving 200 respondents from electrical engineering SMEs. The major input variables included regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), AI knowledge and implementation, sustainability practices, and other operational indicators. Preliminary analysis suggests that AI applications, when aligned with proper SOPs and regulatory frameworks, significantly improve project efficiency and environmental compliance. The findings inform policymakers, contractors, and professional engineers about pathways for AI integration in Philippine EPC settings. The study proposes an AI-driven EPC operational model integrating automation, predictive maintenance, and digital project monitoring. The expected outcomes include improved construction quality, reduced energy waste, and strengthened sustainability in SME operations.
