Abstract
This study examined the impact of workplace stress on employee mental health among workers in Beijing, China, using a structured Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 323 respondents. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, linear regression, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to analyze the relationships among demographic variables, workplace stressors (primary and secondary), and mental health outcomes (short-term and long-term). The findings revealed that: (1) both primary and secondary stressors significantly predicted short-term and long-term mental health problems; (2) weekly working hours and monthly income were significantly associated with variations in perceived stress and mental health levels; and (3) workplace stress was positively correlated with mental health problems, indicating that higher stress levels were associated with poorer mental health outcomes. The results suggest that reducing workplace stressors may contribute to improved employee mental health. The study provides empirical support for implementing organizational policies and individual-level interventions aimed at promoting psychological well-being in professional settings.
