Abstract

Effective hospital inventory and supply chain management is very essential in order to have timely access to necessary drugs, supplies, and equipment. Manual inventory management is prone to errors, delays, and wastage. The objective of this research is to create a Hospital Inventory and Supply Chain Management System for Dr. Eduardo V. Roquero Memorial Hospital. The system was designed using the Agile Scrum approach in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), focusing on iterative development, collaboration, and improvement. The major modules of the system are Equipment & Medicine Stock, Purchase Order Processing, and Asset Tracking, designed with Microservices and TOGAF architecture. Data was collected using surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with hospital staff and administrators. The system was developed using Sprints with user stories to enable incremental development and testing. The system implementation made it possible to monitor the inventory in real time, receive notifications for low stock and expiration dates, automate purchasing, and generate comprehensive reports. Asset management allowed monitoring the status of equipment and their maintenance schedules. System testing and evaluation showed positive results in inventory accuracy, elimination of delays, and improvement in coordination between departments. User satisfaction and efficiency also improved based on feedback from stakeholders. System integration facilitated smooth data exchange between inventory, accounting, and healthcare systems. The system has reduced manual workloads, minimized errors, and optimized stock levels, hence contributing to patient safety and cost savings. Agile Scrum has enabled flexibility and responsiveness to the changing needs of the hospital. Microservices and TOGAF architecture have enabled scalability, modularity, and interoperability. In general, the system can be considered as a strategic tool for ensuring the resilience of the hospital supply chain, providing a framework for other healthcare institutions to improve their inventory management practices and service delivery.

The Ascendens Asia Singapore - Bestlink College of the Philippines Journal of Multidisciplinary Research Abstracts (AASGBCPJMRA) is a collection of abstracts of research papers presented during Multidisciplinary Research Fests (MRFs) mainly organised by Ascendens Asia Singapore as well as other research conferences in collaboration with various institutions and learned societies. MRFs provide opportunities for collaboration with a common prime objective of creating platforms for students, faculty, staff, and researchers alike from different institutions to interrelate/interact with their counterparts. MRFs are expected to aid and promote personality development and critical thinking as participants engage themselves in constructive discussions with other participating researchers.
