Assessing the Effectiveness of Norzgaray Police Strategies in Combatting Illegal Firearms in Barangay San Mateo Bulacan

Abstract

The illegal firearms continue to pose a significant challenge to peace and order in many localities across the Philippines. In the Municipality of Norzagaray, Bulacan, maintaining public safety and gun related crimes have remained top priorities for the local police force. The presence of unregistered and unlicensed firearms in communities, particularly in Barangay San Mateo, has been linked to various forms of criminal activities, including robbery, homicide, and gang related violence. As a result, the Norzagaray Municipal Police Station has implemented several strategic programs aimed at addressing the issue, such as intensified checkpoints, community policing, intelligence driven operations, and public information campaigns. This study used a descriptive quantitative method that allowed the researcher to measure perceptions of law enforcement strategies numerically and analyze them statistically. Creswell, J. W., & Creswell, J. D. (2022). Explain descriptive quantitative research specifically focuses on describing the current status or characteristics of a population or phenomenon. Descriptive research allowed the researcher to gather data from different groups Police officers, Barangay officials, and community members and analyze their responses to identify similarities and differences. Descriptive research is used to systematically described characteristic, behaviors and patterns within a specific population, Mc Combes (2022). presents the respondents strongly agree on the effectiveness of the Norzagaray police strategies in combatting illegal firearms in Barangay San Mateo, Bulacan. Among the indicators, policy legislative impact obtained the highest composite weighted mean (3.97), ranking 1st suggesting that respondents perceive existing laws and policy measures as highly influential in addressing illegal firearms. This is followed closely by data collection and crime analysis (3.95), Ranking 2nd indicating confidence in the police’s ability to gather and analyze crime-related information to support operations. Meanwhile, targeted enforcement programs received the lowest mean (3.92), Ranking 3rd The purpose of this chapter is to summarize the findings that emerged from the study, and what the study suggested, revealed or indicated. This usually refers to the totality of outcomes, rather than the conclusions or recommendations drawn from them.
